Digging up success with Cin7
Founded in 2019, Earthmoving Warehouse quickly transformed from a small start-up into a thriving enterprise, cementing its reputation as a mover and shaker in the earthmoving industry.
The roar of heavy machinery was Mike “Mick” Dowel’s first language. Long before Earthmoving Warehouse became a multimillion dollar enterprise, Mick was a hardworking earth mover. But Mick wasn’t just moving dirt–he was collecting a lifetime of industry wisdom.
According to Earthmoving Warehouse CEO Marc Prospero, Mick’s expertise in the earthmoving industry, his go-for-it attitude, and his large network of fellow earth movers made him a perfect fit for selling earth moving machinery and attachments.
“Mick reached out to a supplier he got to know as a worker in the industry to ask if he could sell their product. The supplier agreed with certain conditions, and Mick not only met but exceeded them. He then decided to go it alone, starting up his own website to sell products from home.”
From a single room to a sprawling Brisbane headquarters in very short order, Mick turned Earthmoving Warehouse into one of the leading suppliers of earthmoving machinery, attachments, equipment, and spare parts in Australia.
The company serves businesses within the civil, construction, and agriculture industries. But Earthmoving Warehouse’s groundbreaking growth brought complex challenges that require more than just mechanical know-how to solve.
So, to help them conquer these challenges and to continue supporting their expansion plans, the team decided to implement Cin7 as its inventory management software (IMS) —but it didn’t go quite as planned.
Smoothing out the details with Cin7
The Earthmoving Warehouse team quickly discovered that implementing an IMS is a little different than learning to operate huge machinery. After some heavy lifting from Lucas (IT and Digital Applications Manager), Marc joined the team.
Marc jumped into the driver’s seat in November 2023. Knowing from first hand experience how critical and important it is to assure ERP integration, he took a keen interest in the Cin7 implementation. Building on the good work undertaken by Lucas and Mick’s vision, with the help of Cin7 partner Integration Kings, a partnership was established that would become the company’s technological backbone ‘ to make sure we get the company engine humming’ said Marc.
“Robert King and his team have been fantastic helping us get to where we are today. They don’t just deploy software like many. They actually understand business and the needs of our business, integrating the software with that understanding in order to ensure it works for operational, sales and management requirements.”
Giving Earthmoving Warehouse a tune up
Earthmoving Warehouse sells their products online and in-person. Marc describes it as a relationship business, explaining that the customers and businesses they work with often have questions about their specific needs—questions that a website alone can’t answer.
“There are so many aspects to buying the machine and then what goes into the machine that we have that fantastic relationship opportunity, and our sales guys really build a rapport with customers.”
Cin7 became the tool that amplified their human connection, providing insights they'd never had before. That’s why Rob and his Integration Kings team focused on Earthmoving Warehouse’s Xero, HubSpot, and Shopify integrations and workflows, creating a seamless operational symphony.
Additionally, Integration Kings is helping Earthmoving Warehouse set up effective stock controls, sales workflows, and various invoice workflows that have been designed for their specific multi-layered selling and inventory requirements. Marc says that, as an embedded part of their business, Cin7 is making a huge difference.
“Compared to what we were doing [before Cin7], it’s light years ahead. And there’s so much more we can do with it.”
Extracting success with Cin7
Marc shares that they’re currently using Cin7’s inventory control software for their selling needs and accessing information not previously available to produce an accurate balance sheet and P&L statement. They now have a good picture of what inventory they’re carrying as well as what their margins are looking like, though Marc acknowledges this is still a work in progress.
As to the future, Marc is excited to take automating the company’s reporting needs to the next level and establishing Cin7 as an authoritative guide for the entire team.
“We’re a more efficient and effective business now, and Cin7 is at the heart of it, but I think as we get more knowledge and use of it outside of the sales process, it’s going to make an even bigger difference.”
Stepping outside of its traditional demolition role, Earthmoving Warehouse is building a firm foundation on Cin7’s powerful inventory solution. From Mick's initial vision to Marc's strategic implementation, they've built more than a business—they've crafted an ecosystem that moves earth, builds futures, and proves that sometimes, the most innovative machinery is the team behind the machines.
