Healing the world: The power of natural, organic, beauty and wellness products

With Cin7, High Street Shoppe founder Lisa Shelley took charge of her inventory, empowering her team to efficiently and accurately deliver sustainable, eco-friendly, and clean beauty products to customers across the globe.

Ten years ago, former accountant turned founder, Lisa Shelley moved from London, UK back to Canada and found that natural and safe products were harder to find in Canada.

Instead of seeing the limited availability of organic skin and body care products as an obstacle, Lisa saw it as a golden opportunity. She approached Neal’s Yard Remedies—a family-run company based in the UK that has been crafting natural, organic, and ethically sourced health and beauty products since 1981—about bringing the brand to Canada.

Her request was met with approval, and as the exclusive distributor for Neal’s Yard Remedies in Canada, Lisa launched High Street Shoppe as a wholesale business with retail stores and an online website.

As the company grew, Lisa and her team added more hand-picked and personally tested brands—like Nourish London, Evolve Organic Beauty, and Mark Birch Trichologist—to their product line up, ensuring that each one met their rigorous purity and performance standards.

Exfoliating their old inventory management system, revealing clean inventory

Though growing with a happy customer base, the High Street Shoppe team’s ability to provide their customers with the best and safest beauty products was being sorely tested by one thing: their inventory management solution.

“When we first started,” Lisa explains, “we were just using the Shopify inventory management tool, and Shopify wasn’t as advanced as it is now. It quickly became not enough, so we moved to TradeGecko, which was subsequently purchased by Intuit.”

Unfortunately, Intuit discontinued TradeGecko in 2023, which meant the High Street Shoppe team was once again forced to look for reliable inventory management software.

Turns out, it was a blessing in disguise.

“After looking at our many options, we picked Cin7. It was a robust platform that allowed us to manage our inventory in multiple locations, transfer information easily, simplify adjustments, and seamlessly work with QBO, Amazon, and ShipStation via Cin7’s APIs.”

Lisa says the final box checked by Cin7 was its customer support. “I asked a lot of questions—especially as a former accountant—about accuracy, reporting, cost of goods, and things like that, and the Cin7 team was very good at answering or getting answers. And they were very good with the changeover and onboarding process, using a lot of demos and the educational portal.”

Once the two-month implementation was complete, the High Street Shoppe team was completely comfortable with Cin7 and experienced clean, accurate inventory numbers for the first time. In fact, Ty Rawang, the marketing lead at High Street Shoppe, says that since implementing Cin7, their inventory numbers have been a whopping 95% accurate!

It’s no surprise then that Lisa reveals Cin7 as the software used most by her team daily. All service orders, inventory quantities, adjustments, and purchase orders from their multiple websites sync within Cin7’s comprehensive dashboard.

“I have confidence that an order coming in from any of our websites is showing up and not getting missed. Cin7 becomes almost like one of your own internal controls—the data is there, and your team is more likely able to do their job effectively.”

Glowing success with Cin7

Since 2023, when High Street Shoppe began using Cin7, they’ve enjoyed many rejuvenating benefits, such as managing their multi-currency needs easily, using Cin7 data as the basis for their forecasting, and automating the stock take process. They are also:

  • Balancing their inventory with their cash flow
  • Recognizing where they need to make process improvements
  • Integrating with third-party applications (e.g., QuickBooks, Amazon FBA, Shopify, and potentially Woocommerce)
  • Applying discount pricing and setting up customer tiers within Cin7
  • Taking advantage of Cin7’s Warehouse Management System
  • Utilizing Cin7’s invoicing capabilities (eliminating the need to duplicate invoices, creating custom invoices to support their brand, and reducing their time in half by sending the invoices directly to the customer through the customer portal)

Another huge benefit? Cin7’s ability to update new information across multiple platforms.

“Changes happen frequently to skincare items, such as ingredients, and if we had to push that information out manually, it wouldn’t happen. We can make the change in Cin7’s centralized platform, and it’s pushed to all our websites. It’s a big efficiency booster.”

And Cin7’s customer support receives high praise from Ty.

“It can be hard to find answers online, so when I contact support, I think the longest I’ve waited has been 15 minutes.”

Helping the planet age well with Cin7

For Lisa and her High Street Shoppe team, being a beauty retailer is more than skin deep. It’s how they transform their heartfelt dream of making a positive impact on this world into reality.

Moving forward, High Street Shoppe will continue to add more products, growing their market share in Canada with mostly international brands. 2025 will be a year focused on operational improvements, such as researching how they can use Cin7’s functionality to its fullest, including expanding their business-to-business reach through Cin7’s B2B Portal and its ability to link with PayPal.

Beyond beauty, High Street Shoppe is helping people build their confidence and their health, one natural product at a time. It’s more than a business, it’s a mission, and with Cin7 as its inventory management solution, High Street Shoppe will continue to create a more beautiful, sustainable, and better future for all.
